The Song "Be Somebody" is sung and written by Canadian singer-songwriter Chantel Kreviazuk for the animated Film 'Leap!' (2016). 'Leap!' is an animated film that follows the young orphan girl, Félicie, and her best friend, Victor, as they escape their orphanage in France, to go and follow their dreams. Félicie's dream is to become a famous Ballerina but doesn't quite have the skill set, but she has the heart and passion. The song "Be Somebody," is am anthem for Félicie's story, as it follows her on her journey of hard work and trials of Becoming Somebody.

Now let's take a look into the lyrics of the song and relate it to the Gospel Topic of Realising our Divine Potential/Divine Purpose.

You're gonna be somebody

You'll be bigger than Mars

They might walk on you now

But they'll walk on your star

You're gonna take the title like the champion you are

From Ibiza to L.A., London to Qatar

You'll be somebody

This song is a shorter song. It consists of the same chorus being sung about 3–4 times. Our Heavenly Father has blessed us to be able to come to earth and gain a mortal experience and knowledge in hopes that we are faithful and learn and return back home to live with him in the eternities. “You're gonna be somebody, You'll be bigger than Mars” is speaking to that truth of us beginning like our Heavenly Father. In the April 1977 General Conference, President Spencer W. Kimball  stated, “God bless you as we carry forward our lives toward perfection so that we may attain and receive the blessings that we are promised, that we may reach godhood eventually and have the blessings appertaining thereto.” He knows that we have great potential on this earth and even greater power in the life to come. In this life and on our journey to becoming like our Heavenly Father and Brother, Jesus Christ, there are going to be many people and many evil forces that try to “Walk on us,” but like it says in D&C 14:7 “And, if you keep my commandments and endure to the end you shall have eternal life, which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God.”

This song has been a great anthem in my personal life. As a freshman in high school, I also had a dream: becoming a West High Cheerleader. Just like Félicie, I didn't have the skill set and didn't make the tram the first time I tried out. But I didn't give up because I had the determination and passion to achieve my dream. I spent months on end doing privates and classes, trying to improve and prepare myself to try out for a second time. That took a lot of sacrifice and tough choices of hanging out with friends and doing other things I enjoyed. I did make sure to prioritize my spiritual learning as well. I made sure that I went to mutual every Wednesday, attending all my seminary classes. As I was working on “becoming somebody” for the West High Cheer team, I was also becoming someone so much more important, a true Diciple of Jesus Christ, and realized that I am a Daughter of my Heavenly Father.

I hope that through this post, you were able to see God’s hand in even the smallest and simple everyday things. Heavenly Father loves you and is talking to you in more ways than you know!

Have a safe and blessed week!
